This little guy tugged at my heart strings.........

He was such a joy to watch! He always had a big happy smile on his face!

He was always eager to be called on, even when he didn't know the answers.

He was a delightful child and loved to dance!

He wore bright pink socks and pointed shoes that were too big for him! He brought tears to my eyes on more than one occasion. His heart was as big as that smile!

The soul is healed by being with children.

These were our little friends next door, the sons of the Baptist Seminary Librarians. Their simple, well built toys made me realize how really simple and enjoyable life can be--what a true gift from God. When I went to the door, after hearing their gentle knock, they told me they were there to "bisit with me". I gave them one of my last protein chocolate and peanutbutter bars, which they thoroughly enjoyed sharing. They demonstrated how they raced their little vehicles. They talked with Garth the previous day about the love of Jesus and had many good questions and comments for him.

I'm home, tired, and both honored and humbled to have served on our CASM short term mission team. I'm fairly well rested and will be posting several updates over the next few weeks. The best way I can tell my story is through my photos, of course, as many of you know........so here's the first brief message and story:

Recommended book about George Mueller

I mentioned George Mueller (English spelling of his last name) yesterday. I am actually reading "George Muller (his Prussian name) The Guardian of Bristol's Orphans" by Janet and Geoff Benge. With scarcely enough food or money for his own family, George opened his heart and home. Sustained by God's provision, the Muller house "breakfast Club" of 30 orphans grew to 5 large houses that ultimately over 10,000 children would call home. George Muller trusted God with a depth rarely seen. His faith and generosity set a standard for Christians of all generations. It's an excellent book. from Christian Heroes: Then and Now. (1805-1898)

I changed the background to let you know that we are going in the rainy season. I have my suitcase packed (mostly), with a few last minute items to put in from my long, long check list. I'm wearing my new Keen shoes to "break them in".

I came across a Classic Devotional from George Mueller today from Daily Inspiration: All believers, according to the will of God concerning them in Christ Jesus, may cast, and ought to cast, all their care upon Him who careth for them, and need not be anxiously concerned about anything.

This certainly came at a good time. I find myself being calm about the trip...........and then all of a sudden, I'll become anxious. I look to verses and Daily Inspiration messages I've received. I have some wonderful ones from Greg Bishop, a Deacon from CASM; that he sent recently when I was anxious about my leg cancer. I feel better when I focus on the Word, more at peace, and calmer.

Happy Father's Day

A father and his young son returned home after a trip to the grocery store. The son loved being with his dad and wanted to help him finish the chore. In fact, he wanted to carry the largest bag-which was much too heavy for him-inside. The father had a simple solution. He put the bag in his son's arms and then picked him up and carried both inside.
What a lovely picture of how our Heavenly Fther works within us. He loves our willingness to take on any assignment. But He knows what we can and cannot do in our strength. When the load is too heavy, the assignment too big, He honors our willing spirit by lifting us up and allowing us to do His work. He empowers us to accomplish more than we can in our own strength.
Do all you can-but realize it is God's power working through you that makes a difference.
Dear God, I can accomplish great things with You working in and through me. Amen

Thank you for all of your emails, financial and prayer support, and words of encourgement for my upcoming trip to Ndu, Cameroon. I'm going with a great team! We meet weekly to review updates, and encourage one another through talking and prayer. I've had all my shots; my passport and VISA are ready. I'm in the process of packing, but first I'm going to treat my clothes with Permethrin.
